Familiar Faces Join TheirCare Team
We’re delighted to share some fantastic news that will benefit both students and families in our school community. Two of our much-loved Education Support staff members, Colleen Rouse and Leica McLeod have officially joined our new Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) provider, TheirCare, on a casual basis. This is a wonderful coup for TheirCare and a tremendous advantage for families considering enrolment in the program.
With a deep commitment to student wellbeing and a wealth of experience supporting children, both Colleen and Leica are ideally placed to enhance the care experience at TheirCare. Leica brings extensive expertise in the space from her background as an early childhood educator — a valuable asset to the play-based learning approach TheirCare embraces.

The program’s play-based model provides a refreshing complement to the structured school day, allowing children to learn through exploration and creativity.
“This program is play-based, which brings out a different side to children. Play-based learning is so important for a child’s development — it’s how they learn, the basis of everything they do,” Leica explains.
A key benefit of having Colleen and Leica involved is the continuity of care they provide. Already familiar to many students in the Junior School, having the duo onboard will help ensure a smooth and reassuring transition into after-school care. Colleen believes this consistency will be a comfort for both children and parents.
“It's building on the relationships we've already established in classrooms and trying to make it as easy and seamless for our families as we can,” she said.
Families also stand to benefit from the convenience of having the OSHC program on school grounds, removing the need for additional travel arrangements.
“I think it’s going to be a fantastic service. Our families already know this environment, and their children don’t have to leave the premises which will hopefully make it easier for them when trying to plan ahead,” Colleen added.
The pair will work on a casual basis, sharing responsibilities with the experienced staff of TheirCare to deliver a safe, engaging, and nurturing OSHC experience. TheirCare will operate from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on school days, with potential for before-school and holiday programs if demand for the service increases.
