Badminton brilliance continues at Cobram AGS

A significant sporting achievement occurred within our School during the first week of Term Three, that being the exploits of our Senior Girls badminton team at the Hume Region Senior Girls (Year 11/12) Badminton Championships.

Emily Orsida, Cadence Pang, Natasha Smith and Caitlin Welch produced virtually a flawless performance by winning 17 of their 18 singles/doubles matches against Victory Lutheran College, Myrtleford Secondary College and Alexandra Secondary College. In a sign of the girls' humility and class, they were praised by the coach of one of the opposing schools for providing tips and encouragement to their players during one particular match that was rather lopsided. While competing hard is required to do well, doing so in the right spirit is just as important.

This outstanding result joins the litany of successes our badminton sides have enjoyed at the Hume Region event in recent years. After displaying their class at the regional event the girls will now get to test themselves at state level in Melbourne on 10 August 2022.

Emily, Cadence, Natasha and Caitlin will be hoping to go one better than in 2018 when they managed to finish as runners up in the state competition as Year 7s.

Well done and good luck girls!
